On today’s Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced that Super Mario Maker is going to be making its way onto Nintendo 3DS. Super Mario Maker for 3DS is a creation tool that allows players to create, share, and play their own Super Mario levels just like on the Wii U.
The game features 100 built-in courses created by Nintendo. These levels feature medal challenges that give players an extra objective in each level. These medal challenges can have players collect every red coin, defeat every enemy etc.
The game also features an online mode like you would find on the Wii U version. But unlike the Wii U version, players can’t search for specific courses through a course ID. Nintendo also took the time to mention that not all courses found on the Wii U version can be played on the Nintendo 3DS. Furthermore, the mystery mushroom that allows Mario to change costume mid-stage will not be featured on the Nintendo 3DS version and will remain a Wii U exclusive.
Instead of uploading Nintendo 3DS stages onto the online community, players will be able to share their stages through the use of local wireless and StreetPass. Stages that are incomplete can also be shared with other players so players can work together to create a single level.
Super Mario Maker will be released on December 2nd for Nintendo 3DS.
